Is HHC the closest to Regular THC?

HHC, or hexahydrocannabinol, is a hemp-derived compound that exists only in extremely low amounts within the hemp plant and is a hydrogenated form of THC. HHC & THC are nearly identical in chemical structure, with the main difference being that HHC is hydrogenated.

HHC is over 3 times stronger than conventional THC. If you're unsure of how its strength will affect you, be sure to start with the smallest recommended dosage of this or any hemp-derived product and adjust accordingly.

The Science

HHC and THC are almost exactly the same in chemical structure. The main difference is that HHC is hydrogenated. That means we add a hydrogen molecule. HHC is over 3 times stronger than conventional THC.

At first glance, HHC, or hexahydrocannabinol, is a hemp-derived compound that exists only in extremely low amounts within the hemp plant and is a hydrogenated form of THC.

What exactly is HHC and how does it differ from other cannabinoids? Follow along with this blog for some more currently available information about this exciting compound.

HHC: The Most Stable Form of THC

To understand the effects of HHC, look at the the structure of the molecule. According to DailyCBD: "By saturating this organic compound with hydrogen atoms, the stability of the compound and the overall shelf-life is extended substantially without affecting the effect profile too much."

However, due to the available concentration of HHC being too small to make products from the natural process alone — a more common practice is to hydrogenate THC — which changes its molecular weight and geometry, and ultimately designates the HHC products we see on the market today as semi-synthetic.

"HHC is a truly apocalypse-ready cannabinoid. This stuff will remain viable for many, many years. When it finally comes time to colonize mars, HHC is likely the cannabinoid astronauts will choose to take with them." DailyCBD

HHC & Other Hemp-Derived Products Safety Studies

Important to note: there are no regulated safety studies for HHC to date, therefore any information regarding the safety of this compound should be taken speculatively. HHC is still a very new compound, so there are also lots of unknowns about its potential qualities — but as of now, this cannabinoid seems like it could offer very similar therapeutic effects as other forms of THC.

THC vs HHC

Subsequently, while the safety of HHC and other new cannabinoids is unclear, there is no evidence to suggest that it is dangerous for consumption. Mild and moderate doses of HHC could likely show effects of euphoria, visual distortions, impairment, and physical sensations. Whether or not these symptoms are overwhelming to the user is also unclear.

Hemp-Derived Products & Dosages

Always be sure to start with the smallest recommended dosage of any hemp-derived product and take it from there. Not rushing the experience is important as well as paying attention to how your body reacts, so be sure to increase or decrease dosages based on what is most comfortable for you.

Finally, we're thrilled to announce that our HHC selection is being released soon, and we can't wait for our loyal customers and newcomers alike to check out our new products!

THC VS. HHC VS. Delta 8

THC, which you may know, works as a medicine and an inebriant. Know people who eat too much, too fast and end up feeling terrible? Edibles create a very powerful experience in the body. Even just a bite can send some people off into a tale spin.

A compound produced by cannabis, Delta 9 remains the most well-known, well-studied cannabinoid. Although it is just one of more than 400 different active materials that can be found in the cannabis plant, it is the most highly sought after.

  • Delta-8 is a naturally occurring compound found in hemp.

  • Produced from hemp, legally and responsibly by PhD chemists.

  • Each batch tests at over 95% with the rest being minor cannabinoids.
